T-Mobile may be one of the first carriers to offer the Samsung Galaxy S III in the U.S., but it is the last one to announce its pricing. That has changed today, as the carrier has finally announced what it plans to charge for the highly-anticipated smartphone. Additionally, T-Mobile has revealed that it does not expect to have enough quantities of the Galaxy S III to support a full nationwide launch on June 21 as originally planned.
In a letter to T-Mobile staff obtained by TmoNews, T-Mobile says that it will offer the 16GB version of the phone for $279.99 after rebate for those on Classic Plans. Full retail price will be $629.99, while Value Plan customers can expect to pay $229.99 up front for the phone. The carrier has not revealed what the 32GB version will cost, but it will likely be in the neighborhood of $50 more than the 16GB version.
Additionally, T-Mobile has revealed that apparently it has not been able to secure a large stock of the phone in time for its planned June 21 launch. Consequently, the Galaxy S III will only be available in select stores and in limited quantities at T-Mobile's online store on that date. Full retail availability is expected for June 27.
Samsung had to make similar delays to the Canadian launch of the Galaxy S II, which won't happen until June 27 either, so apparently it is not able to manufacture enough of the smartphone to keep up with the anticipated demand for it. Sprint is the other American carrier expected to launch the Galaxy S III on June 21, but we have not yet heard if it will have a full launch on that day or if the Sprint version will have limited availability like the T-Mobile edition.
